With many years of collective experience and a firm connection with the progressing entertainment world, The Studio is continuously moving along with new developments and in conjunction with our weekly timetabled classes, there are also many other events and opportunties taking place throughout the year.
Showtime at The Studio
Our biannual dance and theatre production held at one of the large local theatres will include all of The Studio’s students. It provides a great opportunity to experience costuming, choreography and stage performance and binds the varying levels and age groups of the school together into one polished show case relished by all!

The Studio Oscars
At the end of every academic year, parents, families, students and staff congregate for The Studio Oscars: a special evening of awards, presentations and performances which enables everyone at The Studio to mix and mingle and celebrate the success, aptitude and endeavour of the academic year.
Open Classes
We invite parents to watch the final class of every term giving students a chance to perform their work and parents an opportunity to see their child's progress.
Weymouth Dance Festival
Throughout the year, 'The Studio Performance Company' rehearse a variety of routines to display at our local dance competition. It provides another fantastic opportunity for the students to perform on stage and, with the added element of friendly competition driving standards higher and higher each year, we see great improvement from our students who choose to take part. There is also the opportunity for students to work on a solo, duet or small group routine in a variety of styles to enter into the the competition. Either as a performer or a spectator, the festival is a wonderful weekend celebrating talented young dancers and performers and a great insight to local standards.
Specialized Workshops
The Studio offers a range of varied dance and stage activities throughout the year. We enjoy a great relationship with many past pupils and present acquaintances who have a wealth of expertize to share with our students. From performers working with leading cruise companies and top West End Productions, to advisers in hair and stage makeup, we organize a variety of workshops to inspire and refresh the usual term and give the students the chance to learn new skills.
Accredited Qualifications
As a registered member of The Imperial Society of Teacher’s of Dancing and of Equity, The Studio framework offers the opportunity for its pupils to gain qualifications in Ballet, Tap and Modern Dance from the age of 5. This can also be accredited for the Diploma in ‘Creative & Media’ for age 14-19 year olds and is recognized by potential employers and throughout the higher and further education system.
The training and education that we provide at the studio will not only enable our pupils to progress onto a foundation in dance instruction course at the age of 17, but will also place them in a suitable position for further education in Professional Dance and Theatre Performance.

Audition Preparation
For students who express an interest in taking their training further, The Studio will mentor and guide its student’s along the appropriate pathways and onto the next level of training. Potential students will require a full examination history, performance experience, references and audition solos for singing acting and speech. With the expertise and first hand experience of The Studio’s principal, we are confident of being among the best organizations in Dorset for training and nurturing its pupil’s suitably for a career in the performing arts.
