Welcome to The Studio website. We have designed this site to provide you with all the information you should need when selecting a school to study dance and theatre in Dorchester. The majority of our classes are aimed towards children aged 2-18 years but we also have a variety of adult dance classes. Whatever your background, whether you are starting classes for the first time or enrolling with prior learning, we are certain that we will have something to suit you.

The Studio is one of the most established schools in Dorchester and we are dedicated to encouraging our pupils through a structured and enhancing education in dance and theatre performance. Aside from the importance of physical activity within our lifestyles, an education in the performing arts provides the opportunity to develop, confidence, motivation, self-discipline, intellectual curiosity, and a creative imagination. These attributes are essential not only for performing, but for experiencing a fulfilling life as a successful and healthy member of our society, regardless of an ambition for a future within the profession.

The Studio's ethos is to be able to provide a range of classes and opportunities that will enthuse the wide variety its member's needs. We appreciate that some of our students will be looking towards a career in dance and theatre, while others may simply wish to meet new friends and have fun learning a new skill. The Studio understands the importance of nurturing its students towards their individual goals and we are extremely proud to be able to achieve this through the collective experience and expertise of our faculty. Every person will learn and improve in a different way, and having the skill and understanding to cope with this in the class environment, we feel, is key to maintaining enthusiasm and progress that is positive, enjoyable and rewarding.
Beyond Classes
In addition to what can be instilled in the class room, we also feel it is important to enhance our student's learning with other beneficiary elements including performance experience, examinations, specialized workshops, back stage tours, theatre visits and also some social treats to reward and celebrate the on going success and endeavours that each term brings. At the higher end of the school there will also be the opportunity for pupils who display an excellent standard of technical and performance ability to gain experience through the semi professional performance sector of the Studio, providing them with a taste of the skill and discipline required for the profession.
